Bread is such a staple. I like my bread with a little more taste and fun than the standard rolls you find at the local supermarket. Healthy bread rolls for any occasion with extra flavour and nutrients as a bonus. Here is my take on a healthier and simple bread roll recipe that are super tender and full of flavour - use them for your next burger! This recipe makes for clean eating, vegan friendly, low fat and low sugar alternative with some sneaky nutrients thrown in as well.

  • 3/4 C warm water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wholemeal Bread Rolls
Method
  1. Grease a 20cm round springform pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the water, honey, olive oil and salt. Put the yeast on top and set aside for 15 minutes as the mixture turns frothy. Mix in the remaining ingredients. Add extra flour until the dough begins to pull away from sides of the bowl.
  2. Knead the dough on a well floured surface for 5 minutes or until the dough springs back when you press it. Rest for 5 minutes
  3. Divide the dough into 5* portions with a sharp knife. Roll the pieces into spheres and place into the prepared pan. Cover with a moist clean towel and let the rolls rise for 60 minutes or until double in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°Cand bake the rolls for 15 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Enjoy!
NOTES

*This depends on how big you want your rolls.

Key to this recipe is patience. Make sure you give the dough time to rise before rushing into the baking process.
